The boiler scrappage scheme launched in January 2010 allows homeowners to get £400 off a new A-rated boiler or renewable heat technology when they scrap their aging, inefficient, G-rated boiler. In addition to receiving the £400 cashback grant for the new boiler installation homeowners can also benefit from the reduced energy consumption which could save them up to £200 every year.

The scheme is relatively new and there are a number of questions concerning its operation as it develops. This site aims to help you to better understand the scheme and to find out whether your boiler qualifies for the Boiler Scrappage cashback.

To do this click on the Boiler Database tab at the top of this page or click on this link to check how efficient your boiler is

The boiler scrappage scheme has a limited fund and will help up to 125,000 homes replace the most inefficient boilers with new models. You should not delay submitting your application as early demand has been very high and there is no indication that the funding will be increased when it has all been allocated.

Why not check whether your boiler qualifies? The Chancellor stated that “Each inefficient boiler adds over £200 to household bills and one tonne of carbon to the atmosphere,” . It can therefore be seen that the scheme will be good for homeowners and the environment saving money spent on heating bills each year and reducing carbon dioxide output.
